The Wellness Management and Recovery Coordinating Center Of Excellence (WMR CCOE) has developed a psychoeducational program for individuals living with mental illness(es).  The goal of the Wellness Management and Recovery CCOE is to promote good physical and mental health recovery by teaching skills that empower individuals to

  1. Identify and achieve personal goals
  2. Develop informed, collaborative approaches to selecting and managing their treatment and recovery effectively
  3. Achieve an overall healthier lifestyle.  Cultural and linguistic competencies are a focus of the training approach.  The Wellness Management and Recovery curriculum includes information on general health and wellness issues and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

To date, there are six pilot sites in Ohio who have demonstrated success with the implementation of the model.  The current WMR sites include BRIDGES in Lake County, DayMont Behavioral Health Care, Inc. in Montgomery County, Gathering Hope House in Lorain County, Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services in Hamilton County,  Neighboring in Lake County, and Southeast, Inc. in Franklin County.

WMR CCOE seeks to expand its program by working with eight additional sites in 2007-2008.  The CCOE is accepting applications from mental health provider agencies, consumer operated sites, community-based programs, and other entities that assist consumers who receive mental health services in Ohio.  Applications are available through the CCOE or on their website CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD APPLICATION.  Applications must be received by April 13, 2007 by 5:00 p.m. for consideration.  For those seeking more information about WMR and the application process to become an implementation site, a meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at 3:30 p.m.  The meeting will be held at 16 W. Long St., Columbus, OH 43215. Teleconference and videoconference are also available for this meeting.

To RSVP for the meeting on 3/13/07 or if you have any additional questions, please contact Kelly Wesp, Program Coordinator, at 614-225-0980 or kwesp@wmrohio.org.

In collaboration with the Ohio Department of Mental Health, the WMR CCOE is a partnership between Southeast, Inc. in Franklin County, The University of Toledo in Lucas County, and the Lorain County Board of Mental Health.
